I’m Ari, an Edinburgh-based photographer with a deep appreciation for the city’s light, atmosphere, and the quiet magic it offers on even the greyest day. Originally from Malaysia, I was studying in Newcastle when I visited Edinburgh and the Scottish Highlands as a tourist. I was instantly captivated by Scotland. Ended up moving to Edinburgh in 2020 for my masters, and I’ve been here ever since!
Having explored Edinburgh’s many nooks and crannies over the past 5 years, I know the city’s most photogenic corners that will make you feel like you’re in a timeless film.

5 fun facts about me:
- I studied a photography module in university in 2015, and that’s when I bought my first professional camera.
- My husband proposed to me at Newhaven Harbour by the sea, and I proposed back to him at Calton Hill with a view of the most gorgeous sunset!
- I come from a family of documenters – my parents and grandparents captured many photos and home videos of my childhood, way before the advent of social media.
- I’m constantly fascinated by Edinburgh’s architecture, history, stories, culture, and how close it is to both the hills and the ocean!
- I have a solid background in marketing – I do freelance marketing work, but also enjoy the marketing aspect of running my photography business 🙂
